title: Region
description: An AWS region, by its name.
---

An AWS region, by its name.

`Region.parse` takes any well-formed region name; the five named factories cover the
regions of AWS's first MicroVMs launch.

## Accessors

### isMeasured

#### Get Signature

```ts
get isMeasured(): boolean;
```

Whether AWS was measured running MicroVMs here: membership in `Region.measured()`.

##### Returns

`boolean`

***

### isSupported

#### Get Signature

```ts
get isSupported(): boolean;
```

Whether this is one of the five named regions, as in 1.2.

##### Deprecated

Since 1.3.0: use `isMeasured`.

##### Returns

`boolean`

***

### name

#### Get Signature

```ts
get name(): string;
```

The wire spelling, which is also the endpoint's middle segment.

##### Returns

`string`

## Methods

### equals()

```ts
equals(other: Region): boolean;
```

Whether two regions are the same one.

A method and not `===`: JS compares class instances by reference, so two
`Region.usEast1()` calls are different objects. Named `equals` because that is what a
JS reader expects to reach for.

#### Parameters

| Parameter | Type |
| ------ | ------ |
| `other` | `Region` |

#### Returns

`boolean`

***

### toString()

```ts
toString(): string;
```

#### Returns

`string`

***

### apNortheast1()

```ts
static apNortheast1(): Region;
```

#### Returns

`Region`

***

### euWest1()

```ts
static euWest1(): Region;
```

#### Returns

`Region`

***

### measured()

```ts
static measured(): Region[];
```

The regions AWS was measured running MicroVMs in: the 14 the Pricing API priced on
2026-10-24.

#### Returns

`Region`\[]

***

### parse()

```ts
static parse(name: string): Region;
```

Any well-formed region name, or an `ERR_INVALID_ARG` error for a malformed one.

The boundary a region name arrives at from an environment variable or a config file,
where it is still a string. The check is the core's `FromStr`, message and all —
this is a call, not a check written here.

#### Parameters

| Parameter | Type |
| ------ | ------ |
| `name` | `string` |

#### Returns

`Region`

***

### ~~supported()~~

```ts
static supported(): Region[];
```

The five named regions, as 1.2 returned.

#### Returns

`Region`\[]

#### Deprecated

Since 1.3.0: AWS runs MicroVMs in more regions than these five; use
`Region.measured()`.

***

### ~~unlisted()~~

```ts
static unlisted(name: string): Region;
```

Builds the region without the shape check, as 1.2 did.
`Region.unlisted("us-east-1")` equals `Region.usEast1()`.

#### Parameters

| Parameter | Type |
| ------ | ------ |
| `name` | `string` |

#### Returns

`Region`

#### Deprecated

Since 1.3.0: `Region.parse` takes any well-formed region name.

***

### usEast1()

```ts
static usEast1(): Region;
```

#### Returns

`Region`

***

### usEast2()

```ts
static usEast2(): Region;
```

#### Returns

`Region`

***

### usWest2()

```ts
static usWest2(): Region;
```

#### Returns

`Region`

## Provenance

This page is generated from `bindings/microvms-js/index.d.ts` by TypeDoc 0.28.20 and typedoc-plugin-markdown 4.13.1, run from `site/scripts/gen-reference.mjs` on every `pnpm run sync`, so an edit made here is overwritten by the next run.

To change the page, change the doc comment in the binding's Rust source, then regenerate the declarations with `mise run dts`. `mise run dts:check` fails when the committed file no longer matches the source.
